Liver Cancer Optimal Care Pathway- The OCP HCC Study

Cancer Council has outlined best practice guidelines for the liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma, or HCC) cascade of care.

However, whether timely HCC care is provided in Australia in accordance with OCP HCC guidelines is unknown.

  1. To describe the HCC cascade of care in Victoria, from GP referral, diagnosis, multidisciplinary team discussion to treatment
  2. To describe factors associated with timely adherence to the OCP HCC cascade of care recommendations

2018-2024

Prospective longitudinal cohort study

Survival rates in HCC are low compared to other cancers. Understanding the HCC cascade of care in Victoria and barriers and enablers to timely HCC care are crucial to inform health services interventions to improve timely treatment for people living with HCC to improve survival.
