Mary Malek

Background

Mary is a final year postgraduate medical student at Monash University with a keen interest in public health. She completed an Honours year at the Burnet with the Global Women’s and Newborn’s Health Group in 2022 working on a qualitative project: Exploring healthcare providers' experiences of delivering abortion care at 20 weeks and over in Victoria. She also undertook a research placement with Cochrane Australia in 2017 working on systematic reviews.

Additionally, Mary has work and teaching experience in public health as a Public Health Officer at the Victorian Department of Health and a Teaching Associate at Monash University. She is particularly passionate about sexual and reproductive health issues and hopes to work in research and public health in the future.
