Background
Prior to joining Burnet in 2015, Julie worked with the Australian Red Cross in the International Program and the Migration Support Program. She also held positions in overseas NGOs, and in the Federal Department of Justice, Department of Planning and Community Development. Her roles included program and project design, planning and implementation, management of broad-scale contracts, and policy advice and development.
Julie has also spent time living and working in both Nepal and Bangladesh - the latter working to build the organisational capacity of a local NGO. Her passion lies in working with projects that support innovative evidence-based approaches to address issues related to social justice, human rights, local capacity development and health systems strengthening.
Previous roles have focused on a range of areas including international development, refugee and asylum seeker services, alcohol and other drug harm reduction, gender research and youth engagement.
