Background
Carli Roulston has a PhD in pharmacology with 25 years’ experience in medicine and medical device development as a research fellow and business development professional. Carli is dedicated to fostering innovation and brings a proven history of success in research evaluation, commercialisation, regulatory and partnership strategy to achieve funding and investment to grow ideas into products for the benefit of communities.
As Senior Manager, Business Development within the Commercial Research Translation team, Carli leads a team of business development professionals to support new business opportunities, build partnerships and drive revenue growth through strategic planning, market research and competitive analysis. The team also takes a key role in fostering innovation culture throughout the institute, including delivery of innovation programs and management of the Discovery Innovation Fund.
Prior to Burnet, Carli was an innovation consultant and former Head of Commercialisation at The Florey Institute. Some of her key achievements include support for the development of a digital health platform for young stroke survivors and out-licensing technologies to establish new companies.
Carli is passionate about community, gender equity, diversity and inclusion, serving previously as a Board of Director for Stroke Association Victoria, Regional Co-ordinator for Eat Up Australia, Chair of the Florey Equity in Science Committee, and as the Victorian Brain Bee Co-ordinator.
