On behalf of the Institute, Burnet director and CEO Professor Brendan Crabb AC extended his thoughts to the people of Myanmar following the devastating earthquake and aftershocks near Mandalay in the country’s north.
The earthquake was felt across the country, including in Yangon and Magwey, where our Burnet offices are located.
“We are relieved to report that all our Myanmar staff members and their families have been accounted for,” Professor Crabb said.
“We are in close contact with our staff, students, and partners in Myanmar, and are actively supporting them as they navigate the many challenges following the earthquake. Their safety and wellbeing remain our priority, and we are doing all we can to stand with them during this difficult time.
“As the situation becomes clearer, we are working to assess the best avenues to provide meaningful support and assistance.
“We remain committed to supporting Myanmar in the days and weeks ahead, and our thoughts are with everyone affected during this challenging time.”
