Dr Ewa Michalak is a molecular biologist whose career spans 20 years in cancer-focused research. Prior to moving out of academic research, Ewa worked as a postdoctoral scientist for 14 years, both overseas, at the Netherland Cancer Institute and in Australia at the WEHI and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (PMCC).
As the Commercialisation Project Manager in the Burnet Diagnostics Initiative (BDI), her responsibilities include managing all product development projects to assist the impact of the BDI, through the commercialisation of intellectual property and research outcomes. This includes identifying research to be licensed, providing expert advice on commercialisation, building networks to identify opportunities for research commercialisation, and managing stakeholders.
Prior to moving to the Burnet, Ewa worked in the Industry Alliances and Partnerships team at the PMCC, which gave her a deep understanding of stakeholder engagement to facilitate research translation, and experience working with big pharma.
