Mary Malek

Honours Student

Mary is a postgraduate medical student at Monash University currently taking a year off to complete an Honours year at the Burnet Institute with the Global Women’s and Newborn’s Health group.

Her project on optimising the care of people having abortions at 20 weeks and over, supervised by Dr Alyce Wilson, draws on her keen interest for public health and sexual and reproductive health.

Her previous research experience includes a summer research program at the Monash School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, during which she worked alongside esteemed researchers at Cochrane Australia and gained experience in systematic reviews.

Once she completes her medical studies, Mary hopes to pursue a career as a clinician-scientist and work in public health.
