Stormie De Groot

Honours Student


Stormie is a medical student within the Joint Medical Program at the University of New England. In 2017, she will be completing her Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours) with the Healthy Mothers Health Babies project at the Burnet Institute. Her honours project will focus on the relationship between healthcare utilisation and child health outcomes in East New Britain (ENB), Papua New Guinea (PNG).

In 2016 Stormie was awarded a Summer Research Scholarship from the University Sydney. For this scholarship, she worked with the NMHRC and Clinical Trial Centre, University of Sydney, where she focused on the use of retinal photography for diabetic retinopathy screening in rural and remote Aboriginal communities. She will also be continuing this work in 2017.
