The Burnet Institute’s ImmunoMonitoring Facility (IMF) and Innoviron Pty Ltd are excited to announce the launch of 360biolabs Pty Ltd, a Melbourne-based contract research organisation (CRO).

An independent company, 360biolabs combines the strengths and experience of the Burnet IMF with Innoviron’s (ex-Biota) commercially-focused, anti-infective expertise.

360biolabs will offer quality-assured laboratory services in the immunology and virology fields to support clinical trials and develop therapeutics, vaccines and diagnostics.

360biolabs CEO, Dr Simon Tucker said the company would attract overseas clients and investment by providing services to the rapidly growing medical technologies and pharmaceuticals sectors.

“We hope to support and help grow the local biotech sector and the clinical trials industry while providing employment opportunities and high tech jobs,” Dr Tucker said.

“360biolabs will be the Southern Hemisphere’s leading provider of quality assured laboratory services in virology and immunology.”

Burnet Institute Chief Operating Officer, Geoff Drenkhahn said that since 2008, Burnet’s NATA-accredited IMF has provided a unique and essential service to many biotech and pharmaceutical companies conducting clinical and pre-clinical research in Victoria.

“Burnet IMF has experienced rapid growth in the past year and has a wealth of opportunities looking forward,” Mr Drenkhahn said.

“Merging the capabilities of the IMF with the experienced and complementary team previously at Biota adds much greater depth of virology and commercial focus to the new 360biolabs, positions the company to fully capitalise on opportunities, and at the same time greatly strengthens Victoria’s overall competitiveness for clinical trials and biotechnology.”

360biolabs will have both PC-2 and PC-3 containment laboratories, quality management systems and NATA accreditation.
