Burnet Institute Associate Professor Heidi Drummer has been appointed to the role of Deputy Head of the Centre for Biomedical Research.
Associate Professor Drummer will work closely with Centre Head, Professor James Beeson to lead the Centre through the next important phase of its development.
“It’s an exciting time and I am confident that under Heidi and James' leadership, the Centre will go from strength to strength, and in doing so further progress the Institute’s mission of achieving better health for poor and vulnerable people everywhere,” said Burnet Director and CEO, Professor Brendan Crabb.
“We are fortunate to have such strong emerging leaders like Heidi amongst our ranks,” said Professor Crabb.
With more than110 staff and students, 21 group leaders, 7 NHMRC Fellows, an outstanding NHMRC success rate and translational activities like the IMF, the iCRL and the therapeutics/adjuvant/diagnostics programs, the Centre is already one of the most successful biomedical units in Australia.
