Burnet's Professor Mike Toole AM congratulates Jade Davis
Congratulations to Jade Davis, the recipient of the Edelmira Peregrino Go ‘International Health Student of the Year’ award.
Jade was presented with her award at the 2014 AMREP World Health Day Forum in Melbourne.
A former Bachelor of Business graduate from RMIT in Melbourne, Jade’s interest in international health was sparked by working in a not-for-profit organisation, volunteering in Tanzania, and interning on an obstetric hemorrhage clinical trial in Zambia.
After spending nine months in 2008 volunteering at a baby home in Tanzania, she was inspired to undertake her Master of International Health at Monash University.
Jade is now pursuing her interest in maternal and child health, specifically in Eastern and Southern Africa.
The award is presented to the international health student who achieves the highest academic results in international health subjects in a given year.
The award is in honour of Edelmira Peregrino Go affectionately known as ‘Mai Mai’. Edelmira passed away after a year-long battle with cancer in 2003.
