Co-head of Burnet’s Centre for International Health, Professor Robert Power has released his second novel, The Swan Song of Doctor Malloy.

Professor Power says the key theme is harm reduction, kicking off back in the early 1980s.

“It involves the invention of the single-use syringe, corrupt pharmaceutical companies, international terrorism, development politics, and the shift of the heroin trade from Asia to South America,” Professor Power said.

“It is populated by characters and events that will be familiar to many of us who have been engaged in international health.”
