Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Senator, the Hon. Bob Carr has spoken to Radio Australia’s Bruce Hill about his trip to PNG.

“I’m looking forward to the event that has brought me here to PNG on my second visit as foreign minister, and that is the Burnet Institute fundraising dinner in Port Moresby,” Mr Carr said.

“They’ve raised around $820,000 so far and I’ll be urging further support of that fundraising.

“Their work is along the theme of Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies and given that a woman in PNG is 80 times more likely to die in childbirth than a woman in Australia, there is every reason why this campaign ought to be stepped up.”
