Document summary

Staying up to date with health advice can be challenging. It can be especially difficult for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) groups. Multicultural and multilingual people often have different needs and requirements.

During the pandemic, Burnet helped to co-create community-led communications to ensure multicultural communities remained safe.

We trialled this process with different communities. We have documented the process in this handbook so you can repeat it with any community group and any topic – not just COVID-19.

We encourage service providers, community engagement officers and others working with communities to use this handbook to support their next communications project.

The handbook was created by Burnet Institute and Today Design in partnership with Victoria’s multicultural communities.

The project was funded by the Victorian Department of Families Fairness and Housing’s Multicultural TaskForce.
