Symposium on AOD in Melbourne's West

Current Activity, Pressing Needs, Future Action

A Symposium to Foster Multi-sectoral Collaboration and Innovative Responses to Alcohol and Other Drugs in Melbourne’s Western Region

This symposium brings together stakeholders from across research, program and policy to discuss current and emerging trends in AOD use and response in Melbourne’s west.

These include an examination of potential gaps in knowledge of, and services for, ‘at risk’ populations in order to foster the multi-sectoral pursuit of opportunities for innovation in collaborative policy and service design.

Burnet’s Head, HIV Research and Principal for Sexual and Reproductive Health, Associate Professor Mark Stoové will deliver the keynote address.

Panel Sessions:

  • Pharmacotherapy: Building Resilience into a Fragile System
  • Changing Trends and Emerging ‘At-Risk’ Populations for AOD in the West
  • The Forensic AOD Interface - Reducing Harm, Preventing Crime?
  • Opportunities for Innovation in Research Policy and Program Responses
