2014 Fenner Lecture

Professor Fenner working in his lab.

Congratulations to Professor Robert Power, the recipient of the 2014 Fenner Award.

The Fenner Award is presented to a Burnet Institute staff member whose work has made a major contribution towards our mission of achieving better health for poor and vulnerable communities and is named in honour of Australian virologist, the late Professor Frank Fenner AC.

Professor Power will present the Fenner Lecture entitled “Implementing research to further development: drugs, sex and participatory approaches.”

The Lecture will explore the complex and fruitful relationship between research and practice in the development context, especially the role of social behavioural research in HIV prevention.

He will draw on a wide range of examples, paying special attention to his work on adolescent reproductive health and his 30-year focus on harm reduction among marginalised populations.
